🌟 [ 45 ]   ‘Grim Jim’ fact-checked by Twitter over wage rise claim [ @Sky News Australia ]

Sky News host Paul Murray says Treasurer “grim Jim” Chalmers has been fact-checked by Twitter s Community Notes feature for his claim that Australians are $3,700 better off under their government. Twitter users were quick to take the Treasurer to task over his claims, adding the context that wages in real terms have declined due to inflation. “This was such an egregious lie because of inflation being higher than wages going up – meaning real wages are going down,” Mr Murray said. “Despite a 3.6 per cent rise in wages over the last year, inflation has run at 6 per cent, meaning wages in real terms have declined during the same period.” Twitter users also were not happy with the Treasurer over his claim, with dozens of people calling out the statistics in his post.
