I think this was originally an Apple II product and later ported to a number of other systems of the era. It was based on a popular novel of the same name. This game is actually quite complex, probably even by todays standards. I never heard of this game growing up or seen a box or similar. Upon seeing an online unboxing and the manual, i am very impressed. Normally a word game is get rope and use rope . This game has a vocabulary of about 400 words according to the manual, of which they are all displayed for you to experiment with. This is a combination of adjectives, nouns, verbs etc. The game has at least three endings. Possibly a fourth if you do so bad that your client is found guilty. Three endings are included with this playthrough. Some shortcomings of this game include only given one chance to gather evidence for a specific task. Miss out and possibly you wont be able to access the best ending. Another example is i would type Della, call Barstow Kennels and you would always get a response of i kept trying but no one was picking up . If you type Della, call Barstow then she will get through and provide you with an affidavit. The loading times on the C64 can be very long. So occasionally, you could type something that gives a response that advances your case and you could wait up to 15 seconds to get a reply. That aside, i was very impressed with this game considering it came out in the earlier days of the C64.
