Filing a tax return in 2024? $1800 extra credit on the table In this video, we are discussing the details of an extra tax credit potentially on the table right now as some legislation was recently passed through the House of Representatives and is currently in the Senate right now awaiting votes. If this passes through the Senate it will then need to be signed into law by the president which would make this $1800 tax credit active and it would also be retroactive to last year 2023 which we are currently filing tax returns for right now. This would impact tens of millions of households and this would boost the child tax credit payments. The child tax credit payments are also known as the CTC, child tax credit and this is available to millions upon millions of households who have income within the certain threshold, however, lawmakers have a piece of legislation to increase the refundable portion of the child tax credit payment from $1600 last year up to $1800 retroactive back to last year and would adjust higher each year indexed to inflation.
