🌟 [ 5 ]   Hurricane Ernesto Hits Bermuda

( 3892 viewed : 145 like : 35 comments ) Hurricane Ernesto is producing strong winds, torrential rain and a dangerous storm surge to Bermuda tonight, with winds of up to 100 miles per hour possible. Ernesto is a very broad storm which has been struggling to establish a core, and this has denied the storm major hurricane status. The storm is expected to slow down over Bermuda and could stall a little before heading off towards Canada. Some weakening is expected, before it builds back a little intensity after passing Bermuda, and a hurricane landfall is still on the table as a possibility for Atlantic Canada.

Elsewhere, Typhoon Ampil miraculously turned away from the high populations of the Kanto region of Japan earlier, and is now turning away completely. Nonetheless, very heavy rainfall has occurred and is still possible for a little longer along the east coast. Maximum recorded winds were 46 miles per hour gusting to 68mph on Honshu.

In the Eastern Pacific, five areas of interest are active with a couple more possible next week. A few of these systems could develop into tropical storms, including in the Central Pacific. The easternmost system has the highest chance at the moment, and is likely to become a substantial tropical storm. However, with the crowdedness of the basin, a strong storm is unlikely.

In the Southwest Indian Ocean, an uncommon storm is likely to form shortly, and is awaiting a better presentation and stronger winds in its northeast quadrant before being designated as a tropical storm.
