Hundreds of hunters in Florida’s Everglades recently competed in a yearly competition to capture snakes called Burmese pythons.
SWAMP
Some hunters are employed year-round to help control the python population in the swamp.
But the competition brings in many snakes at once. The prize for bringing in the most is $10,000.
A swamp is a wetland, often dense with woody plants.
But the word swamp can also be a verb, meaning to overpower in amount or number.
