Union Home Minister Amit Shah mentioned that 30 km of the border has already been fenced, citing the porous border as a key factor contributing to ethnic violence in Manipur. Director of Rights and Risks Analysis group says that border fencing won't solve the problem in Manipur. On Tuesday night, militants launched a gun attack on a Meitei village in Jiribam district, firing several rounds from sophisticated weapons around 7 PM. Village volunteers retaliated, and security forces quickly arrived to contain the situation. Both sides ceased fire by 8 PM, with no injuries reported. Security forces during search operations and area domination at Chanung and C Zoulen village in Imphal East district seized one locally made single barrel, one SLR Magazine, and live ammunition on Monday, a police statement said.
