Making the Kringla dough:

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups shortening
2 eggs
1/8 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
5 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Mix all ingredients together in order given.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill overnight.
When ready to bake preheat oven to 375.
Roll tablespoons of dough out on a lightly floured surface into 8-inch ropes.
Shape ropes into figure eights or pretzel shapes.
Place on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown on bottom.
Makes 6-8 dozen.

Gingerbread Cookie Dough
NOTE: This is the full recipe, I only made half in the video. 😁👍
Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
3/4 cup molasses or sorghum
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves or nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:
In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add egg and molasses. Combine the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Cover and refrigerate until easy to handle, about 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-in. thickness. Cut with floured 2-1/2-in. cookie cutters. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake until edges are firm, 8-10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely before decorating.

Cut-Out Sugar Cookie Dough
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour, spooned & leveled
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg room temperature
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer, cream the shortening and sugar together for 1 to 2 minutes or until well combined. Mix in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until fully combined, making sure to stop and scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt and mix until fully combined.
Once the dough comes together, use your hands to form it into a ball.
Divide the dough in half and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-in. thickness. Cut with floured 2-1/2-in. cookie cutters. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets.
