🌟 [ 1 ]   ThreadExpress V3. Ep.4 How To Build a Thread Milling Attachment for Your Knee Mill.

( 13762 viewed : 907 like : 89 comments ) In this build series, I am working with Cliff Hall, a toolmaker from New Zealand. Cliff has invented a thread milling attachment for a knee mill that allows for cutting both internal and external threads of both metric and imperial pitches. It can be mounted on the rear edge of the XY table of a Bridgeport style mill and it is entirely manually operated. In this episode:
*Machining the headstock endplate bearing bores.
*Mocking up the headstock side plates.
*Machining the aluminium side plates from sheet stock.
*Machining a prepared casting for the pinion drive.
*Assembly of the headstock and details of the pinion drive.
