This short video discusses the idea, as was argued by Dr. Gabor Mate’ in his book, Scattered Minds (1999), that a major factor contributing to the cause of ADHD is bad or stressed parenting. He has also made this claim in his far more recent interviews on the podcasts of the Joe Rogan Experience and The Diary of a CEO. As shown here, the available scientific evidence contradicts this idea. ADHD is a highly heritable (genetically influenced) trait or disorder with minimal influence of the parenting 9shared or within family) environment. Once again, Dr. Mate’s ideas about ADHD are found to be repeatedly wrong when we examine the scientific evidence for them.
