Why not follow Apollo's tried-and-true methods? And why choose methane as a fuel when liquid hydrogen has proven reliability over decades? You can guess who he’s hinting at, right?
Now, don’t get me wrong—I respect him greatly and have no intention of being critical. I understand that, even now, many are hesitant about the frequent in-orbit refueling missions. I’m simply pointing out that at this time, Starship still faces considerable debate among specialists in the field.
Historically, even the pioneers of the space industry expressed doubts about Starship.

Specifically, one of the most respected voices in the space exploration community, Robert Zubrin—President of The Mars Society and a veteran aerospace engineer— offered detailed insights into the technical challenges facing Starship.
Zubrin expressed that a spacecraft the size of Starship might be unnecessarily large for Mars exploration missions. He commented, “It would have tremendous advantage for an exploration architecture because it wouldn’t need a big base in order to refuel and come back.”
According to him, Starship’s engines will create an enormous plume when landing. On the Moon, where the surface is covered with a layer of regolith dust, this plume could dig a deep crater, destabilizing the craft and potentially causing it to topple. “It wouldn’t land; it will dig a crater and fall over,” he said.
