( 1095 viewed : 4 like : 1 comments ) The Dubai Metaverse was created as a proof of concept (POC) to showcase how the Municipality of Dubai can leverage its existing geospatial data and transform it into an immersive 3D world. The POC presents 4 preliminary applications of the technology, although the potential for many more exist. The four applications include: (1) "Explore" allows the user to move freely throughout Downtown Dubai and clicking on buildings returns GIS information in the applications UI; (2) "Routing" allows a user to route a path between two destinations using Makani numbers; (3) "Planning" allows the user to evaluate two different options for development of a vacant site in Downtown; and, (4) "Real Estate" that uses GIS information to present where space is available for lease in Downtown. The Dubai Metaverse was created with Unreal Engine 5, ArcGIS CityEngine, and the ArcGIS Maps SDK for Game Engines. This application was created by Houseal Lavigne, an innovative company focused on the application of geospatial solutions and technology to solve the problems and challenges facing cities and regions.
